  • How do I read my Hadley schedule?

Hadley Jr High follows a unique schedule.  Each student will have 90 minutes of literacy, 60 minutes of math, 45 minutes of science, social studies, physical education, as well as two 45 minute periods for choice classes and a 30 minute lunch.  To accomplish this feat, the schedule is made up of twenty-seven 15 minute units which fit together to create a student’s schedule.  (Please note, the last unit has an extra 10 minutes attached for announcements, etc.)

The easiest way to read your schedule is to look for your classes within your twenty-seven units.   You will see that your classes are duplicated several times in a row.  This shows you how many 15 minute units compose each of your classes.  For example, your literacy class will be six units long because it meets for 90 minutes.  At this point, use a ruler and a marker; draw a line between the “chunks” of units that compose a class.  This will help you to see the groupings of units and the order that your classes occur.

Below is a time list of each 15 minute unit.  You only need to know the times you switch classes. We recommend that you only write in the times that class “chunks” begin.   Please keep in mind, the only time you need to memorize will be the end of your lunch period.  For all classes except lunch, your entire class will get up and leave to head to another class at the same time.   There is no chance that you will forget to leave a class and go to a next class.  Your entire class will end at all of the same times.

We will follow an A/B schedule for the choice classes. Students will have two choice classes during one semester, each scheduled at the same time of day, but on alternate days.  The following classes meet daily: all academic support plus, math, science, social studies, literacy, physical education and 7th and 8th grade foreign language classes.

At 8:20, students enter the building to go to lockers.  The first class begins at 8:30. Start and end time for each 15 minute unit:
